• Lando Norris was born into a wealthy family as his father retired as a pension manager and later founded Pure Electric. In 2018, his father was one of the wealthiest people in Bristol and ranked 501st among England’s richest people.

• He did horse riding, quad biking, and motorcycle riding during his childhood.

• When he was seven years old, his father took him to watch the national British Karting Championships after which he started karting. In his first karting competition, he won the pole position (the best and most advantageous starting position on the track).

• He initially studied as a boarder (boarding school student) at Millfield School in Somerset but dropped out before completing his General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE).

• He continued studying physics and mathematics under a full-time personal tutor. His family later moved to Glastonbury and enrolled him as a day pupil (a student who attends boarding school but lives at home) in a school there.

• His role model was Valentino Rossi, the Italian MotoGP driver.

• Norris later raced in various karting events including the 2011 Kartmasters British Grand Prix in the Comer Cadet category and 2010 Formula Kart Stars MSA in the Cadet category.

• In 2014, he won the CIK-FIA World Championship in the KF (aged 15 and above) category, becoming the youngest karting world champion in that category, at the age of 14 years).

• He later raced in many karting championships such as the New Zealand Grand Prix in 2016 and the 2017 European Formula 3 Championship.

• McLaren signed him as their junior driver in February 2017. He was later selected as the official McLaren test and reserve driver for the 2018 F1 (Formula One) season.

• In 2018, he competed in endurance racing, where he drove for United Autosports in the 24 Hours of Daytona in the IMSA SportsCar Championship.

• Norris finished his debut F1 season (2019) with 49 points.

• In 2019, he signed a contract with McLaren to stay there till 2022.

• His first F1 podium finish came in the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix as he finished 3rd. He became the 3rd youngest podium-finisher in Formula One history. He ended the 2020 F1 season in 9th place with 97 points.

• In 2020, he was criticised for his remarks that Lewis Hamilton’s F1 wins meant nothing to him but he later apologised to Hamilton personally.

• In March 2020, he did a donation stream on Twitch for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organisation. He set a target of $10 thousand but got a donation of $12 thousand after which he shaved his hair as per his promise to his fans.

• In November 2020, he founded an esports and lifestyle brand named ‘Quadrant.’ It also creates social media content.

• On 11 July 2021, he was going back to his car after watching the UEFA Euro 2020 final between Italy and England at Wembley Stadium in London, England when he was mugged (attacked and robbed in a public place). Robbers took away his £40 thousand watch. ^[2]India Today

• Norris lost the 2021 Russian Grand Prix in Sochi, Russia despite starting the race from pole position. During the race’s closing laps, he did not pit for a tyre change but Lewis Hamilton did. In the later laps, it started raining after which Hamilton overtook him and won the race.

• He launched a kart racing brand ‘LN Racing Kart’ in September 2021 in partnership with OTK Kart Group (manufacturing) and Ricky Flynn Motorsport (operations).

• He announced in December 2021 that he was building a house in Monaco and later moved there due to financial reasons.

• In September 2022, he broke up with Luisa Oliveira due to cheating allegations as he was caught inviting another model named Randi Hartman to a McDonald’s date.

• After McLaren redesigned its car in the 2023 F1 season, Norris began to achieve more podium finishes.

• He crashed his car in the 2023 Las Vegas GP (Grand Prix) but did not suffer any major injuries.

• He signed a multi-year contract extension with McLaren before the 2024 F1 season.

• He made headlines in May 2024 after winning the Miami Grand Prix on 5 May 2024. He became the 21st British driver to win an F1 race. He finished the race in 1 hour 30 minutes 49.876 seconds, finishing 7.612 seconds before Max Verstappen.

• After his win, he was spotted with Donald Trump. Many people criticised Norris when he said that he had a lot of respect for Trump. Mclaren CEO Zak Brown said that Trump was a lucky charm for Norris.

• Norris tied Patrick Depailler, Jean Alesi, Mika Hakkinen and Eddie Irvine for the most podium finishes before a first win (15).

• Lando Norris once revealed that he smelt like a mix of deodorants/perfumes which include Louis Vuitton L’Immensité,  Tom Ford Ombre Leather, and Dior Sauvage.

• He does not like sushi, fish, or any type of seafood.

• He believes in horoscopes and often reads tarot cards.

• Norris goes to the gym to maintain his physique and also does professional psychology sessions to keep his mind in high spirits.
