• He inherited the love for football from his father. His father was a huge Premier League fan. He would sit with his father and watch matches for hours. 

• He was addicted to video games in his childhood; though, unlike many footballers, he was good at studies.

• Seeing his passion, his father enrolled him at the local club, “Rupel Boom”, when Romelu was just 5 years old. 

• He stayed 4 years at the club. He was scouted from another club, Lierse. He joined the club’s academy in 2004.
