Controversy | Arrested for rape Mauris Noronha was arrested upon his return from USA to India in June 2022 under the the IPC (Indian Penal Code) sections 376, 420, 354 (B and C), and 506 for rape, outraging the modesty of a woman, cheating, and threatening. Allegedly, he raped a 48-year old woman on 14 March 2018 when she came to his home to collect her Rs 88 lakh debt she had given to him for investment into his cosmetic business Faith Salon. When she came to his home, he took photos of touching her inappropriately and when she resisted, he threatened to leak the photos on social media and get her husband killed by the gang members of Dawood Ibrahim. - Mauris Noronha lived in the Dhobi Talao area in South Mumbai during his childhood and moved to North Mumbai later with his family.
- In 2003, he returned to India after working in Dubai for four years and the US for eight years. He worked as a bartender on Disney Cruise Liners for around a decade.
- Later, he became a professional poker player and played mainly in Las Vegas. After returning to India, he started a finance business.
- During the COVID-19 lockdown, he became popular as a social worker after he started donating ration kits and other essential items to the poor, needy, and underprivileged.
- Mauris Noronha was planning to move to the USA with his family and had collected around $ 250,000 (Rs 2 crore) to show as funds; however, he donated ration worth Rs 1.5 crore. He also did not pay his house loan of Rs 70 lakh to help the needy.
- In 2022, he contested the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections from ward number 1 of Dahisar but failed to win.
- On 8 February 2024, Mauris was doing a Facebook Live with Abhishek Ghosalkar, the son of prominent Shiv Sena UBT leader Vinod Ghosalkar, at his office in IC Colony, Borivali.
- It was reported that they met each other to end their enmity which originated due to political reasons. During the Facebook Live, he shot Ghoaslkar first and later shot himself, committing suicide.
