• Mudra Gairola hails from Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Uttarakhand, India.

• Mudra did very well in her studies as a child. She got 96% in her 10th grade and 97% in her 12th grade exams. She was once awarded for her academic achievement by Kiran Bedi, the first Indian woman to join the officer ranks of the Indian Police Service.

• Mudra earned the gold medal for her BDS degree, which she pursued at a college in Mumbai.

• She later decided to pursue a Master of Dental Surgery but dropped out to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

• Mudra chose to pursue a career in civil services for her father, who had dreamt of becoming an IAS officer when he was young; her father attempted the UPSC exam in 1973 but could not crack it.

• In 2018, she attempted the UPSC Civil Services Examination for the first time but did not clear the interview round. Mudra took the exam in 2019 and 2020 but did not pass either time.

• In 2021, she again attempted the UPSC CSE and secured AIR 165, which earned her the rank of an IPS officer.

• Since Mudra wanted to be an IAS officer, she gave the UPSC CSE for the fifth time in 2022. This time, she secured the AIR 53 and earned the rank of an IAS officer.
