On 19 September 2023, he was arrested for violently protesting against the death of Congress' leader Dinesh Meena in police custody.
Slapped an on-duty SDM
On 13 November 2024, a video went viral which showed Naresh Meena forcefully entering the polling booth and after coming out, slapping Malpura's on-duty Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Amit Choudhary. An FIR was registered against Naresh Meena by the SDM. After the polling was over, Naresh Meena sat on protest along with his supporters. The situation turned violent after police asked him to end the protest and allow the polling party to leave with the EVMs. His supporters resorted to violence which led to the arrest of over 60 individuals. He was arrested on 14 November 2024.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Naresh Meena

  • His supporters call him ‘Chhota Kirori’ as he was associated with politician Kirodi Lal Meena for a long time and supported Kirori Lal in his various social movements.
  • He cut his thumb and used his blood to put tilak on Kirodi Lal Meena during a Meena Samaj rally in Jaipur in 2017.
  • Soon after the rally, he fought against his mentor Kirodi Lal several times due to their ideological differences as Kirodi Lal is a supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is the rival party of Naresh Meena’s INC.
  • In 2023, before the Assembly Elections, Naresh Meena was expelled from INC after he contested elections as an Independent candidate from Chhapra, Rajasthan after INC refused to give him an election ticket.
  • He returned to the INC after he announced to contest in the by-poll elections from the Dausa seat.
  • After returning to Congress, he gave a rebellious speech on 25 March 2024, expressing his disappointment over not being given a ticket even after he was promised one.

  • In an interview, Naresh Meena justified his actions and claimed that he slapped the SDM because he allowed 30 individuals to cast their votes by threatening them and said,

    He got 30 people to vote by threatening them to take action against them. I could not stop myself. I slapped him. It is correct. Seeing his nature, he should have been slapped more.”

  • He further accused SDM of working under the direction of his rival party, BJP.
  • He claimed that his supporters found it difficult to identify his symbol as it was not properly visible on the EVM.
  • He has accused district collector Saumya Jha and SP Sangwan of Tonk district for the violence.
  • After rumours spread that he was injured after his supporters attempted to rescue him from the police, he took to Twitter to announce that he was doing okay and that he would let his supporters know about his future strategy.
