• After the partition of India, Nisha Kohli and her family moved to India from Sialkot in Punjab, British India (now in Pakistan).

• She was a diligent student at school and attended typing classes in the evenings.

• Later she got offers from the film industry for acting and in 1955, she acted in the Hindi film Pagal Khana. The film was unreleased.

• She appeared in supporting roles in Hindi films such as Miss India (1957), Phagun (1958), Chaalbaaz (1958), and Parakh (1960).
