Some Lesser Known Facts About Nomad Shubham

• Nomad Shubham grew up in a financially weak family in the Munger district of Bihar.

• His grandfather was a freedom fighter.

• Shubham’s parents are farmers. They have grown mango trees and tobacco on their land.

• He initially studied at home and then attended a local school in his village. He was academically good in his school days and scored 9.2 percentile in class 10.

• After pursuing class 12 from Bihar, Shubham went to Kota, where he enrolled in an institute to prepare for IIT-JEE exam.

• While he was in Kota, he used to watch random travel videos on YouTube. Once he saw a TEDx show on YouTube titled ‘How to Travel with Almost no Money,’ after which he became inclined towards travelling. He watched the video more than 10 times and thought of Couchsurfing.

• When he was just 6 months into the course, he decided to drop out of it and start travel vlogging.

• While he was in Kota, he used to travel to various locations in India, while hiding it from his parents.

• His first foreign trip was to Russia in August 2018.

• He then went to Moscow, where he visited the Red Square (above) and the largest ISKON temple. There, he camped overnight by the Barents Sea and tried the horse meat for the first time.

• Thereafter, he travelled to Kazakhstan and after returning home, he decided to start a YouTube channel.

• In September 2019, Shubham began documenting his travel experiences through videos and putting them on his YouTube channel.

• In January 2020, Shubham went to Oymyakon, a remote village in Russia which is one of the coldest places in the world. While sharing his travel experience in Oymyakon, Shubham said,
  

  I remember being dropped off by a trucker at 2am. I had no idea where I would stay for the night. I was cold and confused, my limbs had gone numb and my eyelashes were frozen. I started calling out for help till one kind stranger let me in for the night.”

• In an interview, Shubham shared that he loved meeting people from different corners of the world and learning different cultures and languages.

• In his videos, Shubham tends to strike up conversations with travellers and local vendors while travelling.

• In an interview, Nomad Shubham revealed that he travels to various countries on a budget of around Rs. 500 a day.

• In 2024, a video gained widespread attention in which Shubham was seen highlighting similarities and differences between the general class of trains in India and China.

• Since August 2018, he has been to around 40 countries including Afghanistan, Cambodia, Kyrgyzstan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Uzbekistan, Russia, Mexico, China, and the Philippines.

• He loves listening to Bollywood and Bhojpuri songs in his leisure time. He also loves reading travel books when he is free.

• He is an avid animal lover and posts various pictures with animals on his social media accounts.

• He is fluent in various languages Bihari, English, Hindi, Maithili, Urdu, Arabic, German, Persian (Farsi), Russian, and Tajik.

• Nomad Shubham desired to pursue his higher studies in Germany. However, he dropped the idea due to the financial condition of his family.

• Despite gaining so much popularity, Nomad Shubham still resides with his family in a small house in his village.
