- Ravi Sinha is a 1988 batch IPS officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre. He came into the limelight after the Indian government designated him as the 24th secretary of the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), India’s external intelligence agency.
- Upon finishing his graduation, Ravi cleared the civil services exams organized by the UPSC. He reported at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad, Telangana for police training in 1988.
- On 21 August 1989, Sinha completed his police training module at SVPNPA and was allotted the Madhya Pradesh cadre.
- In 2000, following the separation of Chhattisgarh from Madhya Pradesh and its establishment as a distinct state, Sinha was transferred to the Chhattisgarh cadre.
- Later, he was assigned to the Chhattisgarh Police Headquarters in Raipur.
- Thereafter, he was posted at Durg, Chhattisgarh, where he assumed the post of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
