  • Roja Selvamani is an Indian politician and a former South Indian actress. She is known for her roles in Tamil and Telugu films. She joined politics in 1999 and in April 2022 became the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Youth Advancement, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
  • Her father directed her first acting role in a documentary when she was ten years old. She later had another opportunity to act, in her first year in college. After graduating from college, Roja began taking Kuchipudi classes and became a trained dancer before she made her acting debut.
  • In the 1991 Telugu film Prema Thapassu, costarring Rajendra Prasad, Roja made her acting debut. Sobhan Babu starred in her second film, Sarpayagam. In Telugu cinema from 1991 to 2002, she was the top actress. She has acted in over fifty Telugu movies including Atta Sommu Alludi Daanam (1993), Subhalagnam (1994), Anna (1994), Maya Bazaar (1995), and Topi Raja Sweety Roja (1996).

  • Director R. K. Selvamani helped Roja enter into the Tamil cinema industry. With Prashanth in the lead role, she made her screen debut in the 1992 Tamil film Chembaruthi. She has acted in over 60 Tamil movies, such as Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen (1998), Veera (1994), Asuran (1995), and Adimai Changili (1997).In films like Arasu (2003), Parijatham (2006), Shambo Shiva Shambo (2010), Golimar (2010), Mogudu (2011), Kodipunju (2011), Veera (2011), Kaavalan (2011), and Saguni (2012), Roja has made appearances in supporting roles.

  • Roja debuted on television with the Tamil series Nathi Enge Pogirathu (2002–2003) on the Star Vijay channel, playing the character Sindhu. In the Kannada television series Uttarayana (2004) on Udaya TV, she portrayed Jaya Gour in 2004. Before being replaced by Anasuya, Roja was the anchor of a show called Modern Mahalakshmi. On MAA TV, this program was broadcast. On the comedic shows Jabardasth and Extra Jabardasth, she appears as a judge. A popular show in Tamil Nadu, “Lucha Kicka,” was hosted by her for Zee Tamizh.
