• Her mother was a Christian and a nurse by profession. Even her sister-in-law belongs to a Hindu family.

• In 1990, Farooq Abdullah sent her daughter, Sarah, to London amidst the rising instability and unrest in the Kashmir Valley.

• Sarah met Sachin Pilot (Former Union Minister and Congress leader and now, her husband) in London. The duo were already family friends and fell for each other.

• Despite being family friends, there was a strong opposition from both the families regarding their marriage because of their religions.
