• Her mother was a Christian and a nurse by profession. Even her sister-in-law belongs to a Hindu family.

• In 1990, Farooq Abdullah sent her daughter, Sara, to London amidst the rising instability and unrest in the Kashmir Valley.

• Sara met Sachin Pilot (Former Union Minister and Congress leader and now, her husband) in London. The duo were already family friends and fell for each other.

• Despite being family friends, there was a strong opposition from both the families regarding their marriage because of their religions. Sachin’s family accepted Sara anyhow, but Sara’s parents did not even attend her wedding. However, as time passed, the couple was accepted by Sara’s family as well.
