| Controversies | Alleged Betting Cases [1]Hindustan Times • In a 2022 IPL betting case in Jabalpur, two arrested men reportedly claimed that Satish Sanpal and Dilip Khatri had provided them betting links for an operation run through TEAM 777 software. • A Look Out Circular was issued against Satish on 5 August 2022. When the chargesheet against the other accused was filed in April 2023, Satish was outside India and could not be arrested; therefore, the investigation against him continued separately. • In February 2024, another FIR in Jabalpur named Satish and four others in an alleged online betting operation involving SATSport and SKY EXCHANGE. • On 29 January 2026, Satish sought permission to appear virtually and apply for bail in one of the cases, but his request was rejected. He challenged the decision in April 2026, stating that he had already been allowed to attend proceedings virtually in six other cases. • By May 2026, he had obtained bail in eight of nine criminal cases against him and he was seeking bail in the remaining bailable case. Rs. 1,000 crore Laundering Accusation [2]NDTV • In June 2026, Jabalpur resident Saurabh Bawariya requested an ED investigation into Satish, alleging that he had earned around Rs. 1,000 crore through SATSport and IPL betting and routed the money through shell companies. Saurabh also took action under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, a ban on SATSport and Netflix's Desi Bling, and protection of himself and other witnesses. His lawyer later filed a PIL in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. • The Delhi High Court later observed that allegations concerning Rs. 1,000 crore, 13 shell companiess, hawala transactions, and links with the Mahadev online betting app were not found in the cited FIRs or established through any judicial finding. Officials also confirmed that the ED had not registered a formal case against Satish. UAE Asset Freeze [3]Hindustan Times • On 13 July 2026, the UAE Financial Intelligence Unit reportedly ordered a 30-day freeze on assets linked to Satish, his wife Tabinda Sanpal, and four associated companies under the UAE's anti-money-laundering law. Financial institutions were directed to restrict access to their funds and accounts, including transfers and withdrawals, and verify the source of the funds. • The notice identified Satish as a Vanuatu national, while sources said he also held an Indian passport. His lawyers said the asset freeze had not been officially confirmed and declined to comment on his Vanuatu citizenship. • Satish has not been convicted in any of the criminal cases against him. His lawyers have also approached the Madhya Pradesh High Court seeking to dismiss the proceedings, saying there is no solid evidence against him. |
