He is the Chairman and Managing Director of Oberoi Realty Limited, a company with diverse business interests in real estate including housing, retail, hospitality, and corporate sectors. He is the owner of the Westin Mumbai Garden City in Mumbai. He is known for being the husband of former Indian actress Gayatri Joshi.
  • In 1991, Vikas Oberoi joined Oberoi Realty as its Chairman and Managing director. In 1993, he began working as the Managing Director at Oberoi Constructions Limited. In 2007, he was appointed a Director at Kingston Property Services Limited.

Reportedly, he used to operate his business in a small 300 sq. ft office in Nariman Point, where he would book flats in advance sales by paying 10% of the cost and later sell them for a profit after prices rose. Eventually, Ranvir Oberoi decided to become a developer himself, selling his real estate investments and purchasing land instead.

  • In October 2023, Vikas Oberoi and Gayatri Joshi came into the limelight when they got involved in a car crash in Sardinia, Italy. Vikas and Gayatri were on holiday and driving a dark blue Lamborghini as part of the Sardinia Supercar Tour. The crash happened when their Lamborghini and a red Ferrari both tried to pass a camper van at the same time. This caused the van to flip over, and the Ferrari caught fire, leading to the death of Melissa Krautli, 63, and Markus Krautli, 67, in the accident.

  • According to him, Vikas Oberoi is a fitness enthusiast and does yoga every other day. He also goes to the gym regularly. Once, in a media conversation, he shared his hobbies and friendship bond with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. Vikas Oberoi said,
