- While growing up, he used to play soccer, basketball, golf, and cricket.
- Before getting he started playing golf, he wanted to join the Indian Army.
- He started playing on the recommendation of Anirban Lahiri‘s father, Tushar Lahiri. Tushar Lahiri was his mother’s obstetrician who had served as an army doctor in the same station, where Shubhankar’s father was posted.
- He started playing golf when he was 7 years old. He decided to play golf as a career when he was 12 years old.
- In 2012, he won the All India Amateur Championship at the age of 16.
- He considers Tiger Woods, Jeev Milkha Singh, Arjun Atwal, Jyoti Randhawa, Phil Mickelson, and Anirban Lahiri to be his inspirations.
- He considers DLF Golf and Country Club, Gurgaon, Haryana, as his second home as he played a lot of golf matches between 2012 and 2016 there.
- He finished in the top-10s in his PGTI (Professional Golf Tour of India) rookie season in 2013.
