Some Lesser Known Facts About Vasudev Devnani
- Vasudev Devnani is an Indian Politician. He is a Bharatiya Janata Party. He has been MLA from Ajmer North constituency consecutively since 2003. In 2023, he was appointed as the Rajasthan assembly Speaker. He is the first Sindhi to become a speaker in the Rajasthan assembly.
- After finishing his studies in 1970, Vasudev Devnani started teaching at Vidhya Bhawan Polytechnic College in Udaipur. He was the dean there for 12 years.
- While in college, Vasudev Devnani was deeply influenced by the principles and activities of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), leading him to become a member. Later, he joined the student wing of RSS, known as Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He dedicated nine years to serving as the Rajasthan state president of ABVP before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
- In 2017, Vasudev Devnani changed the curriculum of Rajasthan’s school and included local heroes and nationalism which was appreciated by the central government. Talking about it during an interview, he said,
They (Centre) sought suggestions for the new curriculum. So I said nationalism should be included along with local heroes. I also suggested that the medium of instruction at the primary level should be the child’s mother tongue, Rajasthan’s initiatives in school education were appreciated by the Centre at these meetings. We have revised the curriculum incorporating local nationalist heroes, besides including chapters on demonetisation and flagship central and state government schemes like Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and the Bhamashah scheme.” [4]The Indian Express
- In 2022, Vasudev Devnani was appointed as the convenor of the Rajasthan part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “Modi@20” programme.
