Controversies• He fell into an age-related controversy when the former Delhi captain Kirti Azad registered an FIR against him in a Delhi Police Station in 2015. According to Manjot his date of birth was 15 January 1999 while some disgruntled parents furnished separate documents that state Kalra's date of birth as 15 January 1998.
• In January 2020, he was suspended by the outgoing DDCA Ombudsman for one year from playing Ranji Trophy, for an alleged age-fraud during his U-16 and U-19 days.
