[10]News 18 YouTube • In October 2019, Badruddin created a controversy when he issued a statement against Assam's law of giving government jobs to the people who have not more than two children. He said, "Muslims will continue to produce children, they will not listen to anyone. Our religion and I personally believe that those who want to come to the world will come and no one can stop it." [11]India Today YouTube • In November 2020, AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal was exposed to public contempt when several members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shared a video, claiming that people raised the 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogan while they welcomed Badruddin at the Silchar Airport. The same day, AIUDF held a press conference and rubbished the claims stating it as an attempt by the BJP, along with some media channels, to malign AIUDF by distorting the actual slogan 'Aziz Khan Zindabad' into 'Pakistan Zindabad.' [12]The Quint • In December 2020, Satya Ranjan Borah, a BJP member, lodged an FIR against Badruddin's "Ajmal Foundation," a public charitable trust, alleging that the organisation has been receiving funds from foreign agencies that have links with terrorist outfits. The complaint filed was based on a report by the Legal Rights Observatory (LRO), a legal rights organisation affiliated with the Hindu-nationalist organisation Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).[13]NDTV While speaking with a media correspondent, Badruddin Ajmal rubbished the allegations levelled at Ajmal foundation and also denied receiving funds from any terror-linked foreign agency. He said that the FIR filed against him is a part of a political conspiracy that has been hatched by the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's leader in Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, to discredit him, his party (AIUDF), and the Ajmal Foundation. He also demanded a probe at the highest level to establish the truth. [14]Badruddin Facebook |
