  • In college, Christopher was a member of a non-profit organization called ProSpace, which has a group of people advocating for the cause of starting private spaceflight areas. He also worked as a counselor in a government-funded space camp in Alabama. The goal of the camp was to promote science, technology, engineering, and other related subjects.
  • In 2007, Christopher got a promotion and became an Air Transportation Journeyman. He was also working as a technician for ATS Automation Inc. Later, he volunteered to be deployed in Iraq.
  • In 2014, he moved to MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions in Everett, Washington, as a Senior Building Performance Specialist. He worked in the firm till October 2020.
  • In March 2021, Christopher was listed among the four people who took the first all-civilian spaceflight called Inspiration4. The mission is the vision of the CEO of Shift4 Payments, Jared Issacman, who wished to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis. He started an online raffle to sell the tickets of the flight, and the opportunity attracted more than 72,000 entries out of which only four people were selected including him. The raffle helped him raise millions of dollars for donation purposes.

  • Christopher, an astrophile, applied for the ticket, but unfortunately, he didn’t make it to the final four. However, a friend from his college was shortlisted for the orbit trip, and he decided to donate his ticket to Christopher. This news was given to Christopher through a video call in the presence of Jared Issacman and his friend.
  • Christopher talked about his interest in outer space and rockets during an interview, he said-

Seeing my very first rocket launch in person really cemented that passion deep into me. Once you see your very first live, real-size rocket launch to space, there really are very few other experiences like that, for me, that give you goosebumps, that really just kind of change who you are as a person.”

  • The crew has three other members apart from Christopher. These are- Jared Issacman (the CEO of Shift4 Payments), Sian Proctor (a 51-year0old community college teacher), and Hayley Arceneaux (a physician assistant from St. Jude Hospital). Hayley is 29 years old, and she will be the youngest American to visit space and she’ll be the first person in outer space with prosthetic body parts. Hayley suffered from bone cancer, and she lost some parts of her left leg during the treatment, and later, they were replaced with metal rods.

They also went to the University of California, Los Angeles for their medical and general fitness checkups. The crew also experienced centrifugal force at the National Aerospace Training and Research Center in Pennsylvania. After his session, Sembroski talked about his experience with high G-force and said-

It’s so exhilarating and a lot of fun,”

  • The seats of the crew members are labeled with four attributes where Issacman is representing ‘Leadership,’ Sembroski is representing ‘Generosity,’ Hayley is representing ‘Hope,’ and Proctor stands for ‘Prosperity.’
