Controversy | Tunisha Sharma suicide row: After five years away from television, Rumi Khan returned to the screen in the villainous role of the TV show "Ali Baba: Dastaan-e-Kabul." However, Rumi left the show in January 2023, shortly after Ali Baba's filming began, and following the suicide of Tunisha Sharma, the lead actress, in the makeup room on the set, rising speculations about his involvement in Tunisha's suicide case. Later, Rumi Khan gave an explanation for his absence from the show's filming, saying, "Before taking up the show, I had signed two movies for which I was required to travel outside for shoots. Since my character was pivotal, I was expected to allot a lot of days to it. As a result, it became difficult to manage my dates and balance all projects. So, after discussing with the makers, officially quit the show a few days ago. The producers have been quite understanding and would love to work with them again. My decision to quit the show has nothing to do with Tunisha's tragic demise. She was like a kid to me. Before Ali Baba, I worked with her in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat and Sher-e-Punjab: Maharaja Ranjit Singh, in which she essayed my daughter. She would often tell me that I resembled her father, who she lost a few years ago. So, it instantly led to a beautiful deep bond between us." |
