  • Sita Soren often makes negative comments about her family, including Hemant Soren. In January 2024, when Hemant Soren was arrested, Sita created a division among the ruling party’s MLAs. Some senior MLAs wanted to make Hemant’s wife, Kalpana Soren, the next chief minister. However, Sita and a few other MLAs, despite being from the same party, protested by not attending the meeting. In an interview, Sita claimed she deserved to be the chief minister more than Kalpana. She said,

I would like to ask why only Kalpana Soren, who is not even an MLA and has no political experience, under what circumstances her (Kalpana’s) is being touted as the next chief minister when there are so many senior leaders in the party. I will strongly protest any move to make her CM. There are several senior leaders in the party, who could be given the rein. If they wanted to elect from a family, I am the senior-most in the house and have been an MLA for around 14 years.” [8]Deccan Herald
