ControversiesMuzaffarpur Shelter Home Case

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) did an audit of several shelter homes in Bihar in 2017. During its final report in 2018, it reported that several girls in shelter homes were sexually abused, raped, and tortured. The head of an NGO named Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti, Brajesh Thakur, was accused of raping and killing several girls at a shelter home in Muzaffarpur.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials raided Verma's ancestral house in Arjuntola in August 2018 and recovered 50 cartridges.
