He was 8 years old when he played the keyboard for an orchestra that his father had named after him. He discontinued his studies to pursue his career in music.

After his father’s death in 1990, he had to work as a mechanic in his father’s shop. Later, composer Sadhu Kokila insisted him on taking up music again.

He initially worked as an assistant to many music directors like Hamsalekha, V. Ravichandran, and Gurukiran.
