Some Lesser Known Facts About Nirbhay Gujjar

At the age of 25, he attempted his first robbery in the house of a rich man in Churki village of Jalaun district, but he was arrested by the police and locked in the jail.

After being released from the jail, he went to Chambal and took refugee under the robber Lalaram, after which he did many robberies and kidnappings.

Once he earned a good amount of money with robbery and kidnappings, Nirbhay started his own gang with 60 dacoits. They had weapons like AK-47 and AK-56 besides 315 bore guns.

The local police were afraid to face Nirbhay, and the Madhya Pradesh police had announced a reward of Rs 2.5 lakh on him.

Nirbhay Gurjar used to rape women in the village where he went to rob. He once kidnapped a 13-year-old girl named Neelam Gupta and later married her.

Nirbhay had an affair with his adopted son Shyam’s wife Sarla. Shayam rebelled against the gang. Later Shyam got in an affair with Nirbhay Gujjar’s wife Neelam Gupta.

In 2005, Shyam and Neelam surrendered before the police and informed the police about the secret hideouts of the robber Nirbhay Gurjar. Police tracked him and later did his encounter.

Mr. K. K. Muhammed, the Regional Director (North) of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), once shared that Nirbhay Gujjar and his gang were very co-operated and help the Archaeological Survey of India for the restoration of Bateshwar Hindu temples, Madhya Pradesh, that were constructed during the Gurjara-Pratihara empire between 8th to 11th century.

In 2013, an Indian Bollywood film was made depicting the life journey of Nirbhay Gujjar named as Beehad – The Ravine, starring Vikas Shrivastav in lead role.
