•  In 1990, he became an Indian Police Service Officer in the Tamil Nadu cadre; however, in 1994, he got himself transferred to the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

• During his stint as the Additional Director General of Police of Meerut Zone, he played an important role in catching the criminals involved in a kidnapping incident of Dr Shrikant Gaur, a doctor of Metro Hospital, Delhi.

• Prashant Kumar coordinated with the Delhi Police and SSP of Meerut to rescue Shrikant and put the kidnappers behind bars.

• He is also known as the ‘Encounter Specialist.’ According to various reports, he had done around 300 encounters until 2023.

• Prashant Kumar led Operation Clean in Meerut and under this operation, he encountered various criminals and gangs like Sanjeev Jeeva, Kagga Gang, and Mukeem Kala.
