Controversy | Remarks on Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Divorce On 2 October 2024, Surekha gave a statement which sparked a controversy when she blamed KT Rama Rao for the divorce of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Akkineni Naga Chaitanya. She accused Rama Rao of blackmailing and tapping the phones of the actors. Rama Rao termed her statement absurd and sent her a legal notice in which he threatened to file a defamation suit against her if she did not apologize within 24 hours. Both the actors also condemned her statement and asked her to stay out of their mutual issue. Later, Surekha apologised to the actors on Twitter and clarified her stand on the issue. Some Lesser Known Facts About Konda Surekha
- Surekha resigned as MLA in 2011 due to her dissatisfaction with the Congress party’s leadership. After Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s death, she wanted his son Jaganmohan Reddy to be made the Chief Minister, but Congress handed over this post to someone else.
- Due to the mistreatment by the party workers, Surekha left the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party in 2013.
- In 2014, Surekha won the Telangana Legislative Assembly election from the Warangal East constituency as a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now known as Bharat Rashtra Samithi) candidate. She won with a margin of 55,085 votes.
- Surekha and her husband left the Telangana Rashtra Samithi party (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi) in 2018 as she did not get the ticket.
