Some Lesser Known Facts About Swapnil Singh
- Swapnil began playing cricket because of his father who was passionate about cricket. He was also his first cricket coach.
- In 2001, Swapnil was in sixth standard when he shifted from Lucknow to Baroda (now Vadodara) with his family to pursue cricket.
- Swapnil’s father wanted him to become a batsman but after shifting to Baroda, he started to bowl.
- At the age of 14 years and 355 days, Swapnil made his first-class debut for Baroda in 2006 against Hyderabad.
- Swapnil has played Under 15 and Under 19 level cricket with Virat Kohli. They were also roommates during tours to Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
- Swapnil was also part of the India Under 19 World Cup winning squad of 2008 led by Virat Kohli.
- In 2008, Swapnil was picked by the Mumbai Indians in the first-ever season of the Indian Premier League.
- After being unsold in IPL for 8 years, Swapnil was bought by Kings XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) in 2016.
- Swapnil made his IPL debut for the Kings XI Punjab against Rising Pune Supergiant on 8 April 2017, taking a wicket in the match.
- Swapnil took his maiden IPL wicket of MS Dhoni in 2017 at Indore.
