• She grew up in a musically inclined family. Lahnajita is the eldest girl among her six siblings.

• In her childhood, she had a tomboyish nature, and with her brothers, she used to go on outdoor adventures such as climbing trees, cycling through the neighborhood, and engaging in sports like playing with balls and hockey.

• Lagnajita has shown interest in music since childhood, and at the age of 3, she began her formal vocal training in kheyal, a classical form of Hindustani music.

• While studying at the Patha Bhavan, a progressive institution founded on the principles of Rabindranath Tagore’s Visva-Bharati in Kolkata, Chakraborty nurtured her early interest in music and the performing arts.

• For her higher secondary education, she attended Nava Nalanda High School in Kolkata, where she actively participated in the school’s cultural events.

• In the same year, she also made her acting debut with a Bengali film, Jodi Bolo Hyan. Though she played a supporting role, she gained recognition for her acting skills.

•  On 20 December 2025, Lagnajita alleged that she was abused and nearly assaulted by a man during a cultural event in South Point Public School in Purba Medinipur’s Bhagabanpur area in West Bengal, after she sang a devotional song. Lagnajita filed a complaint against that man. The man was arrested and identified as Mahboob Mallick.

• Talking about what happened during the function, Lagnajita shared,

I had started my show at around 7 pm and it was going smoothly. At around 7:45 pm, I was done singing 7 songs and I was going to start with my 8th one in the list… This 7th song is called ‘Jago Maa’ from the movie ‘Devi Choudhurani’, which was released during this Pujo. While I was interacting with the audience after this song, I suddenly saw one man from the audience charging towards the stage… He came very close to my face.”

• She added,

The school that I was performing in, was recording my whole concert, which is very normal, as every organiser does it. But I don’t have access to that video recording because it belongs to the school. If somebody can access the video, if it comes out in public, then everybody can see that Mahboob Mallick charged towards the stage with the intention of hitting me. In plain words, he wanted to beat me up… While people rushed to save me and were pulling him away, he shouted, ‘Enough of Jago Maa, now sing something secular’.”
