• Kavita Krishnamurthy is a popular Bollywood singer.

• She was born in New Delhi in a Tamil Iyer family.

• Her aunt, Protimma Bhattacharya, insisted her, to get training in music, and Suruma Basu trained her in ‘Rabindra Sangeet’. She further got training in classical music from Balram Puri.

• At the age of 14, she moved to Bombay to try her luck in Bollywood.

• When she was in college, she got the opportunity to sing in the Bengali movie ‘Shriman Prithviraj’ with Lata Mangeshkar as co-singer and Hemant Kumar as a music composer.
