  • According to him, he played the role of Veerapandia Kattabomman when he was in fifth and eighth class. He once wrote his childhood memories in a social media post. He wrote,

    When I was a child, when I was in the fifth standard, I first went on stage to act as Veerapandia Kattabomman. When I was in the eighth standard, I was taken to AVM Studio to act out the dialogue of Veerapandia Kattabomman.”

  • In May 1980, J. C. D. Prabhakar was elected as a Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from the Villivakkam constituency. He served in the position till 31 December 1984.

  • In 1984, he contested from the Villivakkam constituency on the ticket of AIADMK and lost. He was defeated by his opponent V. P. Chintan, a CPI(M) party candidate.
  • In 1988, after the death of MGR, the party was divided in two parts. J. C. D. Prabhakar then supported the group led by Janaki Ramachandran.
  • After that, he rejoined AIADMK under the leadership of Jayalalithaa.

  • On 12 May 2026, J. C. D. Prabhakar made headlines when he was nominated for the post of the 15th Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
  • He was the only leader whose nomination was filled for the Speaker’s post. Therefore, Prabhakar was unanimously elected for the position. Reportedly, no other nominations were filled.
