- Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi is the fifth Caliph (Head) of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a terrorist organization.
- After Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s call for Muslim scholars to join ISIS and fight against the U.S.A., Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi joined the terrorist organization. He later rose to become one of its top leaders. Before joining ISIS, he had been working as an Imam in a mosque.
- On 27 July 2023, Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi was appointed as the fifth Caliph (Head) of ISIS following the death of the fourth Caliph, Abu Hussein al-Qurashi, during clashes in Syria’s Idlib province.
