• Amit belongs to a Marwari family.

• In early 2001, he founded the company Cyquator Technologies Ltd in Mumbai, which specialized in web hosting and e-solutions. After a year, the company had to be downsized because of the dot-com bubble burst.

• In 2002, he made an interim agreement with his father to look after the Zee Learn business and worked on the business for eight months.
  
• After working for Zee Learn, he joined Playwin, an online lottery firm, to gain experience in the business.

• After he joined Playwin, the company earned a revenue of Rs 650 crore in its first year and went on to earn more than Rs 3,400 crore in the fifth year.
  

• He became the head of Zee Entertainment’s International Broadcast Business and Essel Group’s Infrastructure Head in 2014.

• After becoming the head of the Essel Group, he introduced the Power, Water and Gas distribution business to the company.
  

• He became the director of several other companies such as Fun Multiplex Private Limited (AMAL) in 2005, Digital Media Convergence Limited in 2006, Essel Entertainment Media Limited in 2007, and Indian Digital Media Industry Foundation in 2021.
