• Appurva Rampal is a well known plus size model, who has collaborated with many renowned Indian fashion designers, including Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Masaba Gupta, Satya Paul, and many more.

• In an interview, Appurva mentioned that initially she didn’t want to be model; however, it was her father who convinved her to pursue a career in modeling.

• She added that, her confidence boosted after she won a beauty pageant in Faridabad.

• She later signed up with a model agency in Delhi; however, she didn’t get enough work there, due to her plus size body.

• So, she later moved to Mumbai. In an interview, Appurva mentioned that in Mumbai, she also got rejections; however, one designer signed her for a show. She added,

I didn’t fit the industry’s beauty standards. For example, a designer who wanted fuller models, gave me medium-size clothes I didn’t fit into. Then, he said I was incapable of posing but the real reason was that they didn’t have my size.”

• Through many ups and down, in February 2021, she got her first big modeling project with a renowned Indian designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee. In an interview, she said,

“The night my photographs went on social media, my followers jumped by 20k. My phone rang non-stop and agent couldn’t find free dates in my already fully-booked schedule.”

“A lady told me that she had put her teenage daughter on a strict diet because fat girls aren’t beautiful. But after seeing me, she changed her mind. That was bigger than any professional achievement. Most women are plus-size and I represent all those women.”

• In March 2026, Appurva Rampal came into news for accussing her ex-boyfriend, MTV Splitsvilla X16 contestant, Sorab Bedi for cheating on her.

• In a live Instagram video, she shared that she and Sorab Bedi have been dating from last nine year, yet he allegedly cheated on her on the show with his co-contestant, Niharika Tiwari.

• She added that she had only permitted Sorab Bedi to participate in the reality series to help boost his acting career and visibility. She claimed they had a clear agreement that he would not form any romantic connections while in the villa. However, he made a connection with two women. She added,

It wasn’t just emotional, but physical too.”
