|Controversies||• On 4 August 2017, when a Chandigarh-based DJ, Varnika Kundu was returning to her home at around 12:15 am, in her car, Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala, and Ashish Kumar started following her in a 'Tata Safari' near Sector 7 market, Chandigarh. They tried to block her car at the traffic signal, but somehow she managed to escape. They again chased her and blocked her again and again. While driving she called the police and informed them about the incident. Though she jumped the red signals during the chase, she had to stop at a signal near the Housing Board Chowk. As soon as she stopped her car, one of the accused came out of the car and tried to enter her car. Watching it, the nearby Police cops from a PCR ran to apprehend the boys and arrested them on the charges of stalking and harassing and were taken to the Police station in Sector 26, Chandigarh, after which an F.I.R. was lodged against them. However, within a day, they were out on bail, as the two boys are from influential families with political connections.
