  • Dhani Ram Mittal is a specialist in handwriting and graphology.
  • In 1968, he committed a crime for the first time when he forged fake documents and got a job as a station master. He worked there till 1974.
  • After working as a station master, he began stealing vehicles. After stealing the vehicle, he made fake documents and began selling them. He has been imprisoned many times for stealing and selling vehicles illegally.

  • Later, he obtained an LLB degree from Rajasthan in order to avoid court actions. He also learnt and specialised in handwriting skills and Graphology to support and help in his crimes.
  • Dhani Ram had a huge network for vehicle theft,8 covering multiple states including  Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. He stole more than 1000 cars.
  • He stole cars in broad daylight, using duplicate keys or breaking the locks. Later, he changed the number plates and the colour of the cars to avoid being caught.
  • During one of the times when he was taken to court in a vehicle theft case, the judge recognised him outside the court and asked him to leave. Taking advantage of the situation, he told the policemen who arrested him that the judge was in a bad mood and asked them to leave without any hearing, he then standing with the policemen outside the court found a way to escape and ran away leaving everyone shocked when he was called for the hearing of his case.
  • In 1980, Dhani Ram committed fraud, he sent a forged letter to a civil judge of Jhajjar, Haryana, who was named in an ongoing enquiry on a criminal matter.
  • In the letter, he stated that the civil judge was asked to take a leave of absence for the next two months. He forged a second letter signing as the registrar of the Punjab and Haryana High Court stating that there will be a replacement judge taking over the cases for the next two months.
  • Later, he himself started working as a judge on the cases and gave a verdict on more than 2470 cases, releasing thousands of criminals involved in numerous criminal activities including murder, theft, and fraud.
  • He fled the scenario before the authorities could figure out the situation. Later, the policeman caught most of the released criminals. After 40 days Dhani Ram suddenly stopped going to court. The investigation was done and he was eventually caught but he gained popularity at an international level.
  • According to several reports on the case, he was able to give good verdicts because of his knowledge of the law and also his brother was a judge which gave him a better understanding to commit the fraud.
