• During his school days, Edavela Babu actively participated in extracurricular activities, won many prizes, and received a scholarship after he won a Folk Dance competition at the 17th State School Youth Festival in 1977.

• In college, he participated in many dance competitions and secured 1st place from 1980 to 1983, representing Christ College, Irinjalakuda, at the Calicut University Youth Festival.
