  • Himmat Singh was born into a sports-loving family. His elder sister played lawn tennis so he also went to the practice with her and played the game.

  • When he was 6-7 years old, the family shifted from Paschim Vihar to South Delhi. The children played cricket there, so he also became interested and told his parents he wanted to play cricket.
  • Initially, he liked Brett Lee’s bowling and decided to become a fast bowler. Over time, he became a batsman.
  • His parents took him to the Sonnet Cricket Club where he started training under Tarak Sinha.
  • After some time, his parents admitted him into the Modern Public School, Barakhambha Road, where famous cricketers like Gautam Gambhir and Unmukt Chand have also studied.
  • While studying there, he met with his friend’s elder brother, who had played Ranji cricket. He got to know Unmukt Chand’s schedule which inspired him to work hard.
  • He then focused on cricket skills and fitness as well. He used to train every day for almost 1 year which made a huge transformation in his game.
  • He was also a medium-pace bowler but changed to an off-spinner later.
  • After playing Under-14 cricket for Delhi, he felt that he needed to become famous in the local circuit if he wanted to progress to the next stage.

  • So, he kept an eye out for such players who had played for DDCA (Delhi & District Cricket Association) and hit them for boundaries.
  • He also played school cricket and scored 250 runs not out in a match.
  • In a match for Under-16, he scored a fifty. But his team bowled out 5 batsmen of the other team for just 15 runs. So, the selectors told him to bat again, against his own team. He scored 60 runs which impressed the selectors.
  • In the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) acquired him for Rs 65 lakhs against the base price of Rs 20 lakhs. He was released after 1 year.

  • During his time at RCB, he toured with RCB and spent time with Virat Kohli who told him to be patient and work hard on his skills.

  • In the 2024 Delhi Premier League (DPL), he was the captain of Delhi East Riders and helped them win the tournament. He scored 381 runs in 9 innings at an average of 63.50 and a strike rate of 165.65.
