Some Lesser Known Facts About Lalan Singh
- Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh actively participated in student politics and was the General Secretary of the College Students Union during his time.
- He participated in the Bihar movement (JP movement/ Sampoorna Kranti) led by the veteran Gandhian and socialist, Jayaprakash Narayan in 1974.
- In 1985 he represented the country at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow, USSR.
- He brought public issues such as the AHD scam (or fodder scam, where excessive and fraudulent withdrawal of money allocated to the Animal Husbandry Department) to court through Public Interest Litigation (PIL).
- He was a member of the delegation of farmers and visited Mexico, Netherlands, France, and Switzerland in 2001.
- He has also travelled to London in the United Kingdom as a member of the United Nations AIDS delegation.
- He was a member of the Indian delegation to the United Nations General Assembly held in New York in 2003.
- He also travelled to Barcelona in Spain and Bangkok for the World AIDS conferences.
- When he was the President of the Bihar unit of Janata Dal (United), he disagreed with the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, in 2010 and became an unattached party member of JD(U).
