- Rani pursued MBBS at Nagpur University in 1972, where she was the top student in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
- She completed a residency in Medicine for six months and in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for one year in 1973.
- She served as the Registrar of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Government Medical College, Nagpur from 1974 to 1975.
- Rani worked as a lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Government Medical College, Nagpur from 1975 to 1976, and in the same department at the college in Sevagram from 1977 to 1978.
- In 1976, Rani completed her MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Nagpur University, where she earned a gold medal for being the top student.
- Rani Bang secured first place in the All India Rotary Fellowship Competition in 1977. The same year, she married her fellow student Abhay Bang, an activist and community health researcher.
