Some Lesser Known Facts About RCR

  • In the tenth grade, Rohit developed a passion for singing and asked a friend to help him. His friend invited him to enrol and receive lessons from the same music teacher.
  • During his school years, Rohit was a member of the Qawwali group. Their team was chosen to perform at India’s Got Talent, fulfilling his long-time dream of appearing on TV. He practised tirelessly for the event. However, due to excessive practice, he injured his throat and was removed from the Qawwali team.
  • A professor saw his potential as a rapper while he was a college student and encouraged him to make rapping his career. Motivated by this advice, Rohit decided to pursue his dream of becoming a rapper.
  • Rohit’s professor named him RCR, which stands for Rohit Chaudhary Rapstar.
  • Due to the constraints of money, Rohit had to quit college only after five semesters and then he went to Mumbai to pursue his music career.
  • When Rohit arrived in Mumbai, he didn’t have a place to stay, so he lived in a dormitory. He was struggling financially and couldn’t afford three meals a day.
  • Rohit has written more than 500+ rap songs to date.
  • The singing reality show “Dil Se Hindustani,” whose second season aired on Star Plus, gave Rohit his big break. He demonstrated his talent and won fame as a contestant on the show, placing among the top 10.

  • Following his debut on “Dil Se Hindustani,” Rohit was given the opportunity to appear on MTV Hustle, a rap-based reality show. He had the opportunity to perform in front of well-known singers like Raftaar, Raja Kumari, and Nucleya, all of whom are major personalities in the Indian music industry.

  • Although Rohit didn’t win MTV Hustle, he successfully built a sizable fan base. Upon exiting the competition, he started releasing his rap songs on YouTube and other digital streaming platforms.
