ControversiesNon-bailable Warrant
In May 2022, the Allahabad High Court issued a non-bailable warrant against Ritu Maheshwari as she did not attend a court case hearing related to land acquisition. The court ordered the police to bring her before the court the following week. On 5 May 2022, Justice Saral Srivastava issued this order in response to a contempt plea filed by Manorama Kuchhal and another person whose land was acquired by the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (NOIDA) in 1990. They said that they did not receive fair compensation. The court had scheduled the hearing for 4 May 2022, and Ritu was instructed to be present; however, despite receiving the summons, she did not attend the hearing. The court observed,

"Considering the fact that the order of Writ Court has not been complied with despite the fact that the possession of the land of the applicants had been taken over by the NOIDA illegally in the year 1990 without paying even a single penny as compensation. When the Court summoned the CEO, NOIDA in a contempt proceeding, she did not appear before the Court, when the matter was taken up which led her counsel to request the Court not to take up the matter till she reaches the Court as her flight is delayed, this Court finds that such conduct of CEO, NOIDA amounts to deliberate and willful disrespect to the Court, as the Officer of the rank of Chief Executive Officer of a Corporation expected the Court to take up the matter at her mercy, therefore, this Court finds it to be a fit case where non-bailable warrant be issued against the CEO, NOIDA." Sentenced to Jail
In January 2023, Ritu Maheshwari was sentenced to one month in jail, and an arrest warrant was issued by the Greater Noida police authority. This was due to a case involving a plot allottee and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), which was filed back in 2001. The case was about a man named Mahesh Mitra, who applied for a plot of land in 2001, but the GNIDA did not allocate the land to him, leading him to file a case in the District Consumer Forum in 2005. It was mentioned in the agreement that GNIDA was supposed to allocate a plot of land between 1000 to 2500 square meters to Mitra; however, it didn't happen, resulting in a legal dispute. The GNIDA was also ordered to pay all the legal expenses related to the case. The matter went to the State Consumer Commission, which ruled in 2010 that the registration amount of Rs 20,000 paid by Mitra to the Development Authority shall be refunded to him. The case was further taken up by the National Consumer Commission, which ruled in favor of Mahesh Mitra in 2014. In 2017, the bank accounts of the GNIDA were attached by the District Consumer Forum. The Greater Noida Development Authority appealed to the State Consumer Commission against this action, and the State Commission nullified the judgment issued by the District Consumer Forum. Later, the District Consumer Forum issued an order that led to an arrest warrant being issued for Ritu Maheshwari. She was fined Rs 2000, and a warrant was sent to the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner to arrest her. [3]DNA
