Some Lesser Known Facts About Rohit Godara Kapurisar

• Rohit Godara Kapurisar is a wanted criminal from Bikaner, Rajasthan, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gang. He became infamous for his involvement in the 2022 killing of gangster Raju Thehat and the 2023 murder of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the chief of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena (SRRKS).

• Godara got involved in criminal activities at the age of 19. There are more than 32 documented criminal cases against him across different police stations throughout India.

• On 3 December 2022, gangster Raju Thehat was shot and killed in the Udyog Nagar area of Sikar, Rajasthan, near his home by unknown attackers. Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for Thehat’s murder, stating that it was in retaliation for the killings of gangster Anand Pal Singh and Balveer Banura. There was an ongoing feud between Raju Thehat and the Anand Pal gang, and reports suggested that the Anand Pal gang joined forces with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to avenge Anand Pal’s death. ^[1]India Today Anand Pal Singh was killed in a police encounter on 24 June 2017. His death became a focal point for Rajput outfits, as he was considered a hero among Rajput and Ravana Rajput communities. Many young people viewed him as a defender of Rajputs against the rival Jat community. Additionally, Anand Pal gained popularity for his acts of helping the poor and taking from the wealthy, earning him a reputation similar to that of Robin Hood. The news of Anand Pal’s encounter triggered violent protests in Rajasthan, leading to the uprooting of railway tracks, damage to public property, and alleged casualties from police firing.

• On 5 December 2023, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, a prominent Hindu leader and the President of the right-wing organization Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena (SRRKS) in Rajasthan, was fatally shot by unidentified assailants in the Shyam Nagar area of Jaipur. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. Four individuals entered the residence where Gogamedi was located and opened gunfire. In the firing, one of Gogamedi’s security personnel, Ajit Singh, sustained injuries, and one of the attackers, Naveen Singh Shekhawat, was killed. The remaining assailants quickly fled the scene. Gogamedi was seen collapsing from gunshot wounds in the footage. • In the post, Rohit Godara claimed to be associated with Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar and said that he killed Gogamedi because he had supported their enemies. However, the authenticity of the post could not be verified.

• Accusations against Godara include operating extortion schemes in Rajasthan, where he allegedly demanded sums ranging from 5 to 17 crores from various businessmen. Approximately two months before Gogamedi’s murder in December 2023, Godara reportedly made threatening calls to Rakesh Bilaspur, a former councillor and businessman from Gurgaon. Rakesh claimed to have received three extortion calls from Godara, demanding Rs 1 crore. The first call occurred on 14 October following which Rakesh filed a police complaint. According to the complaint, Godara used a foreign number to make the threatening WhatsApp call, stating that he would harm Rakesh and his son if the money was not paid.

• Apart from that, Godara is said to have issued threats and demanded extortion money from Congress MLA Mukesh Bhakar of Ladnu in Nagaur, leading to the police issuing a red corner notice and offering a 1 lakh reward for information leading to Godara’s arrest.

• Godara is also connected to the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala on 29 May 2022. Notably, Godara managed to evade the police, escaping from Delhi to Dubai on 13 June 2022, using a fake passport under the name Pawan Kumar. ^[3]Zee News Sources suggest that the Bolero car used in Moose Wala’s murder was originally purchased from Aditya, a resident of Fatehpur, in February 2022. Subsequently, Godara acquired the car through his associate Mahendra Saharan, who then handed it over to Arshad. Arshad, in turn, provided the car to Moose Wala’s shooters. Additionally, Godara played a role in providing shelter and a grenade to Deepak Tinu, also a suspect in Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder, while he was on the run.
