Some Lesser Known Facts About Vivek Aggarwal

• Vivek Aggarwal received the Gurukul Scholarship during his studies in Globalization and International Financial Systems at the London School of Economics, London.

• 1994, he cleared the civil services examination and became an IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre.

• He began his career on 1 August 1996 as a Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) in the Junior Scale of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

• During this period, Vivek Aggarwal handled the Land Revenue Management and District/Sub-Divisional Administration. He served in the position till 1 September 1997.

• From 1 September 1997 to 1 May 1998, he worked as a Junior Scale SDO in the Land Revenue Management and District/Sub-Divisional Administration.

• On 1 May 1998, he was appointed as a Junior Scale Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh. He worked in the Rural Development sector until 1 March 1999.

• From 1 March 1999 to 22 May 2000, Vivek Aggarwal served as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Under Secretary) on inter-cadre deputation in the Punjab and Bihar cadres.

• During this period, he worked in the Land Revenue Management and District Administration.

• On 22 May 2000, he was appointed as an Additional Deputy Commissioner (Under Secretary) in Bathinda, Punjab, in Land Revenue Management and District Administration. He served in the position till 1 June 2001.

• Vivek Aggarwal served as Deputy Commissioner (Under Secretary) in Kapurthala, Punjab, in the District Administration from 1 June 2001 to 14 April 2002.

• On 1 January 2002, he was appointed as the Additional Managing Director (Under Secretary) at the State Industrial Development Corporation on inter-cadre deputation in the Industries sector. He served in the position till 9 April 2002.

• From 10 April 2002 to 31 May 2002, he served as Deputy Secretary (Under Secretary) in the Finance Department.

• On 1 June 2002, Vivek Aggarwal was appointed Managing Director (Under Secretary) of the State Industrial Development Corporation. He served in the position till 31 December 2002.

• From 1 January 2003 to 4 January 2004, he served as Managing Director of the State Industrial Development Corporation with the rank of Deputy Secretary.

• He was appointed as the District Collector of Rajgarh in Madhya Pradesh on 5 January 2004 and served there until 18 May 2004.

• From 19 May 2004 to 31 May 2005, Vivek Aggarwal served as District Collector of Ujjain.

• He was then posted as District Collector of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on 1 June 2005. He remained in the position until 31 December 2006 with the rank of Deputy Secretary.

• From 1 January 2007 to 17 June 2008, he served as a District Collector of Indore with the rank of Director. During this period, he worked in Land Revenue Management and District Administration.

• In 2010, Vivek Aggarwal started working as the Managing Director and Secretary of PWD department of Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation. He served in the position till 2015.

• He pursued a mid career program training for IAS Officers from 18 April 2011 to 10 June 2011.

• He served as a Commissioner and State Mission Director of Total Sanitation Campaign in Smart Cities Mission (AMRUT PM AWAAS) from 2015 to 2018.

• During the same period, Vivek Aggarwal served as a Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation and Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company.

• He worked as a Principal Secretary to Government of Madhya Pradesh in the Department of Housing and Urban Development from 2015 to 2018.

• From January 2018 to February 2019, he served as a Principal Secretary Indian Administrative Service (IAS) to the Government of India in Bhopal.

• In December 2018, he was appointed as a Principal Secretary at Public Health Engineering Department in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He served in the position till February 2019.

• During this period, Vivek Aggarwal worked on the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, NDPS Act, GST and Central Taxes, Economic Security Director Financial Intelligence Unit Head of Indian Delegation to Financial Action Task Force, and Head of Tax Policy Research Unit.

• In September 2022, he was appointed as the Head of Indian Delegation to FATF and a Member of the Steering Group in Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He served in the position till 2025.

• During the same period, he served as a Director of Financial Intelligence Unit India.

• In April 2025, Vivek Aggarwal was appointed as a Secretary to Government of India in the Ministry of Culture.

• He has experience in public administration, fiscal management, policy implementation, revenue administration, infrastructure development, agriculture reforms, and financial intelligence.

• He is experienced in Management of infrastructure projects mainly under Public Private Partnership.

• Vivek Aggarwal has expertise in the highway sector, urban development, and agriculture marketing.
