  • Bray Wyatt (1987-2023) was an American professional wrestler known for his appearances in various wrestling promotions such as WWE, NXT, and FCW. He passed away in August 2023 due to a heart attack.
  • He was motivated to become a wrestler after watching his father. He trained under Barry Windham. He showcased his wrestling skills by winning a state wrestling championship in 2005 while weighing 275 pounds (125 kg).
  • He later played American football (rugby) for two seasons at the College of the Sequoias, excelling as a defensive tackle and guard. His performance earned him the distinction of being named second-team All-American as a sophomore offensive guard.

  • Wyatt earned a football scholarship to Troy University in Alabama to do his graduation; however, he chose to drop out of college around two semesters (27 credit hours) before obtaining his degree, to pursue a career in the world of professional wrestling.
  • He won his debut fight against Brian Jossie in FCW (Florida Championship Wrestling). He made his TV debut in April 2009, initially using the ring name Alex Rotundo and later changing it to Duke Rotundo.

  • During his time in FCW, he often teamed up with his brother, Bo. Their partnership proved successful, and on 23 July 2009, Bray Wyatt and Bo Rotundo secured the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship by defeating Justin Angel and Kris Logan. They lost the title to The Busters on 19 November 2009.
  • In June 2010, Bray Wyatt entered WWE NXT using the ring name Husky Harris, and he formed a tag team with Cody Rhodes. His first appearance in televised matches occurred on 8 June 2010. On 17 August 2010, he was eliminated from the NXT competition.

  • In October 2010, he made his secretive in-ring TV debut by ambushing John Cena during a Hell in a Cell match. His true identity was disclosed on 5 October 2010. He later joined the faction The Nexus. On 31 January 2011, he faced an assault from Randy Orton, leading to his absence from WWE for some time.
  • In March 2011, Bray Wyatt began competing in FCW using the ring name Axl Mulligan; however, in televised matches, he appeared as Husky Harris. On 2 February 2012, he and his brother Bo Rotundo won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship once again.
  • In April 2012, he adopted the ring name Bray Wyatt, which would become the name he was most famously known by in his wrestling career.

  • In November 2012, he formed a faction known as The Wyatt Family, which included Luke Harper as his first follower (referred to as a ‘son’) and Erick Rowan as his second.
  • He returned to WWE on 8 July 2013 as the leader of The Wyatt Family. The group later attacked many wrestlers like Kane, Drew McIntyre, Heath Slater, and Jinder Mahal. He won his first match on the main roster on 18 August 2013 against Kane at SummerSlam in a Ring of Fire match.

  • He later had significant rivalries with Daniel Bryan and John Cena and fought matches against them at the 2014 Royal Rumble, WrestleMania 30 in 2014, and a Last Man Standing match at the 2014 Payback event.
  • In September 2014, televised promos showed Wyatt freeing Harper and Rowan from his influence. In the 2015 Royal Rumble Match, he fought for 47 minutes before being eliminated by Big Show and Kane. By February 22, 2015, he began promos where he claimed to be The New Face of Fear. He lost his WrestleMania 31 match against The Undertaker on 29 March 2015.

  • In July 2015, The Wyatt Family made a return, and on 24 August 2015, he introduced Braun Strowman as the new member, forming The New Wyatt Family; however, their association ended when Wyatt and Rowan were drafted to SmackDown and Strowman to Raw in the 2016 WWE Draft.

  • On 25 October 2016, Randy Orton joined The Wyatt Family, and Wyatt and Orton later became tag team partners. On 4 December 2016, he won his first WWE title by capturing the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at the 2016 Tables, Ladders, and Chairs (TLC) event. He won his first WWE singles title at the 2017 Elimination Chamber event on 12 February 2017.

  • Randy Orton later started fighting with The Wyatt Family and dismantled The Wyatt Family compound including Sister Abigail’s grave. On 2 April 2017, Wyatt lost his title to Orton in a match at WrestleMania 33.
  • In November 2017, he started a rivalry with Matt Hardy, adopting the persona of Deleters of Worlds, while Hardy portrayed his Broken gimmick. By April 2018, Wyatt and Hardy became a tag team, and on 27 April 2018, they won the Raw Tag Team Championship at the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

  • In April 2019, WWE aired several promos featuring Wyatt as the host of a sinister show named Firefly Fun House, where he was shown using a chainsaw to cut through cardboard. He later adopted a character known as The Fiend, characterized by a demonic face mask.

  • On 31 October 2019, he won the Universal Championship by defeating Seth Rollins. Later, he introduced two separate belts, one for the Firefly Fun House persona and another for The Fiend gimmick.

  • On 27 February 2020, Goldberg defeated Wyatt and took his title. Wyatt won his match against John Cena in WrestleMania 36, marking his first and only win at WrestleMania. He later had rivalries with wrestlers like Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, and Randy Orton. He later formed a brief partnership with Alexa Bliss.

  • His final televised match took place against LA Knight in the 2023 Royal Rumble event on 28 January 2023.

  • Bray Wyatt’s signature move was called Sister Abigail (also known as swinging reverse STO, facebuster, or faceplant maneuver). One of his preferred finishing moves was the Mandible Claw. His wrestling persona often portrayed him as an evil character with remarkable endurance and strength.

  • Bray Wyatt passed away on 24 August 2023, at the age of 36 due to a heart attack. It was later revealed that he had also tested positive for Covid-19, which further aggravated his existing heart condition. Bray Wyatt’s death was confirmed by the Chief Content Officer of WWE, Triple H, in a tweet.
