• Abhimanyu Easwaran is an Indian cricketer who plays for the Bengal team in the domestic circuit. He is primarily a right-handed opening batter and plays an anchor role in the team.

• He was born to a Tamilian father and Punjabi mother in Uttarakhand but moved to Kolkata to pursue his cricket career along with his coach at the age of ten. His father already own a cricket academy named Abhimanyu Cricket Academy in 1988 which is 8 and a half acres in area.

• He played his first major tournament for Bengal against Uttar Pradesh on 14 December 2013 in a Ranji Trophy game where he scored 10 and 27 runs in both innings and helped his side to win the match by eight wickets.

• He then made his T20 debut against Tripura on 31 January 2017 where he scored 6 of 13 balls. The match was won by Bengal by five runs under the captaincy of Manoj Tiwari.

• In October 2018, he was included in the India-A’s squad for the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy. He did not get the chance to play in the first match but in the second match, he scored 69 runs off 103 balls on 25 October 2018 at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium (now Arun Jaitley Stadium) in New Delhi and help his side to post a total of 293 runs. India-A however, lost the match by 6 wickets.

• A few months later, he emerged as the leading run-scorer for the Bengal team in the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy with 861 runs in 6 matches at an average of 95.66. Unfortunately, his team couldn’t qualify for the quarter-finals. It was the same series where he scored his first double-century in First-class cricket against Punjab (201*). In the same season, he also scored 186 against Hyderabad. He then scored unbeaten 183 runs against Delhi as his team was able to chase down the target of 323 runs.

• On 25 May 2019, he played an unofficial test match against Sri Lanka A at Belagavi City in Karnataka where he scored 233 runs and helped his side to beat the team by an inning and 205 runs. His team was led by Priyank Panchal and scored 622 runs in the first inning. In reply, Sri Lanka could only manage 232 and 185 runs in both the inning. Easwaran was adjudged player of the match. 

• In August 2019, he was called to the India Red team’s squad for the 2019-20 Duleep Trophy wherein in the final, he scored 153 runs against India Green which put him under the radar of the national selectors.

• In October 2019, he was then named in India-A’s squad for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy. In this series, he only got to play a one-match where he scored 20 runs against India-B on 31 October 2019. 

• From December 2019 to March 2020, he played Ranji Trophy games where he scored 258 runs from 17 innings with an average of 17.20.

• In January 2021, he was included as India’s five standby players in India’s Test squad for their home series against England. In May 2021, he was again included as the four standby players in India’s squad for the final of the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship and their away series against England. Talking about the series against England, he told,
  

  “I was in the squad, in the reserves, for the [2020-21] England Tests too, and that was a great learning experience for me, just being there, spending time in the dressing room, watching everyone. I enjoyed my time there – how they prepare, just watching Virat Kohli‘s intensity at training was an education. There were things I hadn’t seen before – for example, Rohit Sharma saw the pitch and focused on his sweep shot, [R] Ashwin did the same… they were so clear about their plans. And though he isn’t in the main squad of 20 for the tour of England – plus the World Test Championship final against New Zealand – he wants to be as prepared as possible, because “you never know, just in case an opportunity comes up”

• Besides this, he was also featured in Dhaka Premier League for the Prime bank team where he emerged as the top performer for the team. This helped him to gain a place in India ‘A’ side to play against New Zealand.

• Abhimanyu has decided to opt for plan ‘B’ just in case his passion for cricket doesn’t work. He wants to be a Chartered Accountant like his father.
