  • Kamal Sadanah is an Indian actor, producer, and director. He is the son of popular filmmaker Brij Sadanah who committed suicide after shooting his wife and daughter on 21 October 1990.
  • He was born into a family of filmmakers. His uncle Chander Sadanah is a renowned film producer, and actresses Jyothika and Nagma (Chander Sadanah’s daughters) are his cousins.
  • In an interview, Sadanah revealed that he wanted to become an actor since he was a child; however, when he later ventured into production, he realised that he was more inclined towards production. He further revealed that he had started managing the production house of his father by the age of 20.
  • After making his acting debut with the Bollywood film “Bekhudi” in 1992, he appeared in many more Bollywood films including ‘Fauj’ (1994), ‘Jai Maa Vaishnav Devi’ (1995), ‘Angaara’ (1996), and ‘Mohabbat Aur Jung’ (1998).

  • In 2007, Kamal Sadanah produced the film “Victoria No. 203: Diamonds Are Forever,” a remake of the film “Victoria No. 203” (1972) which was directed and produced by his father Brij Sadanah. The actor played the role of a villain in the film.

  • In 2014, he wrote and directed the film “Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans.”
  • After a gap of almost fifteen years, Sadanah appeared with his debut film co-star Kajol in the film “Salaam Venky” (2022).
  • The actor lost his entire family on his 20th birthday. His father shot his wife, daughter, and son Kamal with his licenced gun and then committed suicide. Luckily, Kamal Sadanah survived the bullet, but his father, mother, and sister died. The incident took place in his apartment in Mumbai on 21 October 1990. While talking about this in an interview, Sadanah said,

    Mom and dad had had an argument on the morning of my birthday. By the evening, Dad had consumed more than his share of alcohol. I left with my friends for my birthday celebrations. We came back to the bungalow a little after midnight and were hanging out in my room. On hearing gunshots, we all came running down.”
