  • Gongadi Trisha is an Indian cricketer. She plays for the U-19 Indian Women’s cricket team as a batsman. In 2023, Trisha was a part of the Indian squad that won the Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup after beating England in the finals.
  • She belongs to a middle-class family from Badrachalam, Telangana.
  • After her birth, Trisha’s father who earlier used to be a hockey player decided that he’ll make Trisha watch cricket matches on television instead of cartoons.
  • When Trisha was two and a half years old, her father bought her a plastic ball and bat and started training her in cricket.
  • At the age of 5, her father started taking her to the gym along with him. At the gym, her father bowled more than 300 throwdowns to her.
  • Afterwards, he got a cement pitch made at a local ground in Badrachalam, where he trained Trisha in cricket for long hours.
  • Due to the absence of a cricket academy in their hometown, her family shifted to Secunderabad from Bhadrachalam so that Trisha could get adequate facilities for her training and development. Her father gave up his job as an ITC trainer and also sold his gym at less than 50 per cent price of its market value to shift to Secunderabad.
  • One day when Trisha was practising batting in the nets in Secunderabad, her father recorded her video and sent it to John Manoj and Srinivas, the coaches of St. John’s Cricket Academy in Hyderabad. After watching the video, John Manoj got so impressed by Trisha that he asked her to join his academy. At St. John’s Cricket Academy, Trisha was trained by coach Srinivasan.

  • Later, her father also sold four acres of his farmland in Badrachalam, Telangana, to support her further training.
  • Trisha was also trained in cricket by former Indian coach R. Sridhar at his academy.
  • When Trisha was eight years old, she made her place in Hyderabad’s U16 women’s squad, becoming the youngest player in the team.
  • Trisha scored the highest runs in the south zone for two years at the U16 level.
  • At the age of 12, she started playing as a batsman for the Hyderabad U19 women’s team and as a bowler for Hyderabad U23 women’s team. She played her first U19 match for Hyderabad against Tamil Nadu. In the match, she made four dismissals and scored 38 runs.
  • After gaining popularity at the state level, Trisha became a part of the Indian U-19 women’s cricket team.
  • She represented India against Sri Lanka, West Indies, and New Zealand in a series.
  • Later, she was named in U-19 Indian women’s squad for T20 U-19 Women’s World Cup 2023. During the final match of the World Cup, she scored 24 runs (including 3 fours) in 29 balls against England and helped India win the inaugural edition of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
