- Sandeep interest in cricket developed because of his father who used to watch cricket very passionately.
- Sandeep began playing cricket in Mumbai and played school cricket till the tenth standard. At 16, he returned back to Kerala and within 4 years, he made his first-class debut for the Kerala team.
- Sandeep’s first-class debut came for Kerala against Goa on 24 November 2012.
- Sandeep was bought by the IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 on the recommendation of Virat Kohli whom he has impressed as a net bowler in the Indian cricket team training camp in Kochi.
- In August 2018, Sandeep was suspended for three matches in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy for showing dissent against Kerala’s captain, Sachin Baby.
- Sandeep took 12 wickets in six matches and was the leading wicket-taker for Kerala in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was also the leading wicket-taker for Kerala in the group stage of the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, with 44 wickets in ten matches.
- In 2021, Sandeep switched sides from Kerala to Tamil Nadu for the domestic cricket season.
