• In December 2022, a Pakistan journalist named Syed Ali Haider shared an audio clip on YouTube in which a man, purportedly Imran Khan, can be heard talking to a woman in lewd language. In the audio clip, termed as 'phone sex' by the media, Imran is purportedly asking a woman to come close to him; however, the woman refuses following which Imran purportedly insists that she does as told. In the clip, the woman can be heard saying, "Imran what have you done to me? I can't come." Then, Imran says that he "will have to change his programme for the next day." In the clip, the woman also says that her "private parts are in pain." She later says that she would try and meet him the next day only if her health permits to which Imran responds, saying, "I will see if it's possible as my family and children are coming. I will try to get their visit delayed. I will let you know tomorrow." [2]The Tribune Reportedly, the woman in the audio clip is Ayla Malik, who is a Pakistani politician and journalist; she is a member of Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Toshakhana Case: In August 2022, MNAs from the Pakistan Democratic Movement filed the Toshakhana case against Imran Khan. The reason behind this legal action was his failure to disclose the specific details of the Toshakhana presents in his annual asset report to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The ECP initiated an investigation into the matter and eventually reached a final decision on October 21, 2022. As a result, Imran Khan was disqualified from holding public office due to his involvement in dishonest conduct, the fabrication of information, and the submission of an inaccurate declaration, as stated in the reference under Article 63(1)(p) of the constitution of Pakistan. Following this verdict, Khan organized the Azadi March II as a form of protest. On 7 July 2023, Imran Khan petitioned in Supreme Court against the Islamabad High Court's directive to the trial court that had asked for a re-examination of the maintainability of the Toshakhana corruption case within a week. [3]The Hindu On 5 August 2023, the trial court sentenced him to three year jail term following which he was arrested from his home in Lahore. [7]The Hindu After his arrest, Pakistan experienced a period of unrest with increased anti-government protests. Usman Dar, who is recognized as one of Imran Khan's closest aides, talked about this in an interview in October 2023. He asserted that Imran Khan was the mastermind behind the events of May 9, alleging that Khan had planned to target sensitive installations during a meeting. According to Dar, the primary objective of this plan was to remove Army Chief General Asim Munir from his position. [8]India Today

• On 30 January 2024, Imran Khan received a 10-year jail sentence in a case involving a confidential diplomatic cable, the Cipher Case. The cable, sent by a Pakistani ambassador to the U.S., was claimed by Khan to be evidence of a conspiracy leading to his removal as Prime Minister in 2022. He, however, was convicted for violating the Official Secrets Act. [9]The Times of India On 3 June 2024, the Islamabad High Court acquitted him in the cipher case. [10]The Hindu
