Controversy	Money Laundering Case • In September 2023, Naresh Goyal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case. According to the ED, Goyal illegally obtained and manipulated loans worth Rs. 538.62 crore given to Jet Airways from Canara Bank. • In November 2023, Anita Goyal was also arrested when the ED submitted its chargesheet in the money laundering case. • The Enforcement Directorate (ED) stated that she received Rs. 12.2 crore and their son Nivaan received Rs. 2.9 crore for consultancy services; however, Jet could not provide documents to support their claim. • Later, a special court granted bail to Anita Goyal on the same day, considering her age and health condition. ^[1]Live Mint

Soon after marrying Naresh Goyal, Anita Gupte started working at Jet Airways in 1979 and began looking after the company’s sales and marketing.

She worked as the executive vice president of Jet Airways.

She was associated with Jet Airways India Limited, Jet Hotels Private Limited, Jet Aviation Private Limited, and World Air Services Private Limited.

Anita Goyal received Rs. 7.39 crore, and her daughter, Namrata, got Rs. 1.1 crore, and her son, Nivaan, received Rs. 97 lakh between 2010 and 2012, when Namrata and Nivaan were management trainees at Jet Airways, while Anita was Vice President of Revenue Management and Network Planning.

An audit by EY found that Rs. 9.46 crore was paid from Jet Airways’ accounts to Anita, Namrata, and Nivaan between 2011 and 2019. The payments had no valid reason and were intended to divert company funds for personal use, according to an ED investigation.

In March 2019, Anita Goyal, along with her husband Naresh Goyal and one nominee of Etihad Airways PJSC, stepped down from the board of Jet Airways.

On 20 February 2020, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) registered a case against Jet Airways and the petitioner under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), based on an earlier police report. This was because the offences mentioned in the report were listed under the PMLA.

Her husband, Naresh Goyal, was granted interim bail by the Bombay High Court on 6 May 2024 to look after Anita Goyal who was suffering from terminal cancer.
