  • After completing his formal studies, he moved from Bihar to Bengaluru, where he began working as an automobile executive at a private firm.
  • In 2019, Atul married Nikita Singhania after meeting her on a matchmaking website.
  • In early 2020, Nikita and her family began putting pressure on Atul for financial support. They asked him for expensive gifts for her mother and demanded that he invest in her brother’s cloud kitchen business.

  • Nikita’s family repeatedly demanded large sums of money, running into several lakhs. Atul initially provided the money but later refused to give more.
  • In May 2021, Nikita left Atul and their son. Later that year, she filed for divorce but withdrew the case six months later by claiming that she was unaware that her lawyer had filed it.
  • During a court hearing in 2021, Nikita demanded a monthly maintenance of Rs. 2 lakh for their son and Rs. 1 lakh for herself.
  • In 2022, Nikita filed multiple legal cases against Atul, including domestic violence, unnatural sex, and dowry harassment.
  • Nikita accused Atul and his family of demanding Rs. 10 lakh in dowry and claimed that this demand caused her father to die of shock. However, during court proceedings, it was revealed that her father had actually passed away in August 2019 due to a heart-related ailment. She then withdrew the case.
  • Nikita filed another domestic violence case in 2022, but neither she nor her lawyer attended hearings for two years. The case was dismissed in 2024.

  • In the video, Atul named Principal Family Judge Rita Kaushik and Prosecutor Madhav and accused them of corruption and exploitation. He mentioned that the judge asked for a bribe and demanded Rs. 5 lahks in return for a favourable judgment.

  • His video soon went viral on the internet and sparked discussion on the misuse of legal provisions in matrimonial cases. Accenture faced backlash after Atul’s wife became linked to the incident. Later, the company locked its official X account to limit public access.

  • His note titled “Justice is Due,” highlighted the harassment he and his family faced due to false accusations and legal manipulation by Nikita and her family. He blamed Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, her brother Anurag Singhania aka Piyush, and her uncle Sushil Singhania for his decision.

  • Before taking his life, he also prepared a detailed checklist of tasks, including returning office belongings and organising personal matters.
  • Atul left a gift and a letter for his son, which he asked him to open on his 18th birthday in 2038. In the video, he requested his wife to hand over their son to his parents so he could be raised with good values.

  • In his last wishes, Atul requested that his wife and her family stay away from his body. He urged his family not to immerse his ashes until his harassers were punished. If justice was not served, he wanted his ashes to be thrown in a gutter outside the court.

  • An account, believed to be Atul’s, posted a message tagging Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and others. The message read,

    I will be dead when you read this. A legal genocide of men is happening in India currently.”

  • Atul had emailed an NGO for men about his intention to commit suicide and asked them to take care of his parents. The NGO alerted the police as soon as they got the email, but when police reached his home, they found Atul dead.
  • Following Atul’s death, his brother Bikas filed a complaint against Nikita and her family. The FIR was filed under section 108 (abetment of suicide) and section 3 (5) (establishes joint criminal liability when two or more people act with a common intention) of the BNS.
  • In December 2024, Nikita, her brother, and their mother were taken into custody by the police in Gurugram and Prayagraj, respectively. They were granted bail by a Bengaluru court in January 2025.
