ControversiesAccused of dual vote
Baljinder was initially registered as a voter in the Talwandi Sabo assembly with the address of house number 273 and father's name as Amarjit Singh in 2005. Baljinder Kaur is the adopted child of Amarjit Singh. After the passing of Amarjit Singh, Baljinder Kaur filed a lawsuit in 2007 to assert her ownership rights over Amarjit Singh's property, citing the adoption deed and her voter ID; however, the matter was discarded by the court in 2011. She then re-registered herself as a voter with house number 272-A as her address and with Darshan Singh as her father. Darshan Singh is her biological father. In 2018, Baljinder was alleged of having two voter ID's with separate father names and residential addresses by Barinder Singh, Talwandi Sabo's sub-divisional magistrate (SDM)-cum-electoral registration officer, who filed the complaint to Diprava Lakra, Bathinda's deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer. In 2015, when an investigation into this matter was conducted, her vote, which mentioned her father's name as Amarjit Singh, was added to the absent voter's list. As a result, the vote mentioning her father's name was taken off the list. In an interview, while taking about the allegations, she said,

"I never had a dual vote. The Election commission would not have allowed me to contest the 2014 and 2017 polls if I had two votes. If the SDM has submitted any such report I will demand another inquiry into the matter. " [1]Hindustan Times
